1. What are the types of translation?

Translation services can be provided as either translation or interpretation.

Translation (written translation) is often performed in the fields such as technical, legal, literary, medical, etc. Interpretation (oral translation) is often used in television, meetings, and panels.

Interpretation can be performed as a consecutive or simultaneous interpretation based on needs. In simultaneous interpretation, the purpose is to transfer the speech to the listener instantly, while in consecutive interpretation, the speaker allows the interpreter to translate the speech by making pauses.

2. What is the simultaneous interpretation?

The purpose of simultaneous interpretation is to transfer the speech to the listener instantly, allowing the listeners to listen to the speech in their own language at the same time as the speech.

For this reason, simultaneous interpreters use microphones and special sound systems in interpretation booths, and listeners listen to this interpretation through headphones.

The most important aspect of simultaneous interpretation, especially in situations where the course of speech should not be interrupted, such as meetings and panels, is the competence and mastery of the interpreter in both source and target languages.

It is crucial that the translation offices work with expert interpreters for a successful simultaneous interpretation.

3. What is the consecutive interpretation?

The interpreter is involved in the conversation without using any special equipment during the performance of consecutive interpretation.

The interpreter listens to the speaker and then translates it to the listener. When the interpreter is speaking, the speaker makes pauses in his/her speech.

4. What is the translation fee? How do you calculate pricing?

The pricing is based on 1000-character units excluding spaces. Nevertheless, although a unit price is determined based on the number of characters, the factors such as the area of the translation, terminology, and the need for technical knowledge may affect the price.

For the most accurate price information, use our “request an offer” module or contact us via e-mail address info[at]cancantercume.com

5. How can I calculate how many characters my document has?

You can copy your document to a Word file and see how many characters there are without spaces with the help of the “word count” feature.

6. How do you calculate the fees for translations under 1000 characters?

Translations below 1000 characters are calculated as 1000 characters. However, our corporate customers are charged based on the total number of all characters throughout the accounting period, and there is no base price.
